Recently, Dr. Joseph Cerreta ministered a message from Mark 4: 24-25 which challenges us to give attention to what we hear from God’s Word as well as how we apply Truth to our lives. The passage from Mark’s gospel, in the Amplified Bible, puts it this way: “The measure of thought and study you give to the truth you hear will be the measure of virtue and knowledge that comes back to you – and more will be given to you who hear. For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away”.
How can we effectively apply what Jesus is saying? Dr. Cerreta gave us three points:
- Carefully ponder what you hear.
- Seek to understand it.
- Commit it to memory and share it to benefit others. In other words, make it useful!
The Kingdom of God provides equal opportunities, but never guarantees equal outcomes. Your “getting” is in proportion to your giving. The more you give, the more you receive. Following the Lord Jesus Christ is an investment. Like all investments, the more you put in, the greater the return.
